Are $2 Bills Still Being Made?
The 2 dollar bill has always been a bit mysterious. While many questions surround the deuce, one of the most common questions is whether they are still being printed. It’s a fair question, as $2 bills are still relatively rare to come across.
So, is the treasury still making two dollar bills? In fact, they are.
While they aren’t printed in the same frequency and volume as more popular bills, they are still coming off the presses. As a matter of fact, since 2016, there have been 1,158,400 $2 bills produced. That’s $2,316,800 worth, enough for most of us to do a double take.

While they aren’t produced yearly, with zero being printed in 2017, 2018, 2020, and 2023, they are still consistently printed. The deuce is making a bit of a comeback. In 2025, 416,000 $2s will be dropped from the BEP. That’s more than double the $10 bills being printed (160,000) and nearly equal to the $20 bills being made (435,200).
So, while they are still rare to come across daily, the deuce is yet again making a comeback. Only time will tell if more will find their way into regular circulation vs. being stashed in your grandparent’s closets.
At GAD, we hope the deuce rolls and is distributed more regularly because life is better when you give a Deuce. ✌🏼
